Airclan Camp

Lynxpaw walked out of the crowded Apprentice's den, shaking her pelt and drawing her paw over her ear. She saw Rushingpaw come out, but when she got up to talk to him, the she-cat he was in love with walked out behind him. Lynxpaw let out a quiet hiss of fury and walked to her mentor, Flamelegs, the Clan deputy, who was quietly eating a thrush beside the fresh kill pile. "May i have this?" Lynxpaw asked, pulling a magpipe out of the pile. Flamelegs nodded his head and the sunlight shone on his pelt, turning it to fire.

I was low on the ground, hiding myself in some bramble. My leader, Snowstar, had ordered me to spy on Airclan. I was scared, but kept myself calm, padding onwards, then rolled in some foxdung to hide my scent.

Flamelegs stood up. "Want to join me on patrol?" He asked. Lynxpaw nodded and padded towards the entrance when a strange smell caught her nose. "Lynxpaw, i can see what your thinking. Smell. Does it smell like a cat? No. It smells like foxdung." Flamelegs shook his head at his apprentice. "But you may look if you want. If there is a cat, you can deal with it." Lynxpaw padded towards the smell, her powerful muscles bulging under her pelt. She gasped when she saw the apprentice crouched in the bushes. She leaped at the cat, using her fighting skills to claw her underbelly and give her a few good bites.

I reached the cat's neck and snipped at it a few times. I then slashed at the cat's pelt and yowled.

Lynxpaw used her powerful hindpaws to thrust Ivypaw to the ground, confusing her for a moment. In that same moment she leaped on Ivypaw and clawed down her flank, and she bit harshle into her throat. "Don't make this end the way it did with Brambleclaw and Hawkfrost!" she spat, giving Ivypaw another good bite to the neck.

"Back off! Jeez!" I yowled and kicked Lynxpaw off me.

Lynxpaw rolled over then sprung back and pinned her, claws unsheathed and cutting into Ivypaw's fur. "Why are you here?" she demanded.

I lied there and licked my pelt, "I was sent by Snowstar!" I hissed.

"You think i care? Be more careful, for Starclan's sake, if you're going to spy! I've spied on Waterclan before, but that's because the smallest scent of mouse-bile sends them crawling to their dens!" Lynxpaw smirked and pointed a blood stain in the crisp snow. "Very nice fighting, if i do say so."

I smirked as well and stood, "Yea, thanks, but I don't take it that nicely, 'cause your Airclan." I meowed and did a mrrow of laughter.

"Well you probably shouldn't be here." Lynxpaw meowed quietly. "That is an understatement, chase her out, for Starclan's sake!" A new voice spoke and Lynxpaw turned around to see the cat she hated most, Sapphirepaw. "Don't you have better things to do then spy on me?" Lynxpaw spat at the beautiful black she-cat. Sapphirepaw lifted her head to stare at Lynxpaw. "If only." she growled. "Go away now, before you loose them mangy ears of yours!" Lynxpaw hissed, taking a step towards Sapphirepaw. But Sapphirepaw looked around. "Fine." she mumbled as she walked away. "Mouse brained piece of...." Lynxpaw stopped her own comments when she realized Ivypaw was still there.

I stared at the she-cat that had left, "That was harsh." I mewed and looked back at Lynxpaw.

"She is dating the guy i loved since i was a kit in the nursery. Don't you think i have a right to hate her? She's a stupid kittypet, and no better!"

I sighed and nodded, "Don't I know..." I grumbled.

"Well i guess you could stay here....just tell Snowstar you found out we are lacking prey. By the way, whats your name?"

I stood up straight and meowed, "I am Foxtail! What's your name?"

"Lynxpaw, don't forget it, either." She smirked and another cat stepped into view. This time it was Rushingpaw, Lynxpaw's crush. "That is the guy i love." she whispered to Ivypaw. Lynxpaw padded up to Rushingpaw and whispered softly in his ear, "You're dreaming. Go back to the den." With that, Rushingpaw turned and padded into his den. "Easy." She meowed, licking her paw.

I let out a laugh, "That was smart." I meowed and smiled.

"Guess he trusts me enough to take my word." Lynxpaw purred and glanced around. "What's the name of your guy friend?"

"Oh...his name is Skypaw..." I purred his name.

"Did you know that my brother, Snowheart, was made a Warrior today for chasing out a fox? And his mate is expecting kits." Lynxpaw shook her head. "Hey, since our Clans are kinda aly-ish, do you wanna see if Flamelegs will train both of us?"

"That'd be cool!" I meowed happiley and looked up at the sky.

"Actually, maybe tomorrow. It's nearly moon-high. You should be getting home now, Ivypaw. And remember, lack of prey."

I nodded, "Yea...I'll remember!" I mewed and ran back through some bushes.

Lynxpaw padded into the Apprentice's den. she sighed with relief when she noticed Rushingpaw by himself. She padded in next to him and rested her head on his shoulder and curled her tail over his flank. She fell into a dream.
